Ngāi Tahu have the largest geographic region of all iwi (people) in New Zealand.


Some of the waiata and haka included are repeats from previous albums and others are newer compositions which sing to a younger generation. The 1848 kaumatua or Blue Book is a list of Ngāi Tahu who participated in the 1848 Ngāi Tahu census that is used to identify people who are eligible to register and identify as Ngāi Tahu. We were established in 1993 by our three local Ngāi Tahu Rūnaka; Te Rūnanga o Moeraki, Kāti Huirapa Rūnaka ki Puketeraki and Te Rūnaka o Ōtākou.
