In general, this scholarship posts to eligible student accounts around the second week of August. The award, which maxes out at $10,000, is paid on a per-credit hour basis.
Where the students is eligible to take up to 15 credits per semester.
If the student decides to attend an NSHE community college, they will receive $40 per credit hour.
At UNLV, the Millennium Scholarship does not pay 100 percent of a student's full-time tuition and fees.

Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship Program Program information and requirements are available on the Nevada Treasurer’s website. It’s good for up to 15 credits per semester and cannot be used to pay for remedial or graduate courses. Each year two qualified Governor Guinn Millennium Scholars are chosen to receive an additional scholarship for students who are majoring in elementary or secondary education with the intent of teaching in Nevada. The Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship Program, Office of the Nevada State Treasurer, evaluates student High School attendance and performance data as submitted by their high school and determines whether or not the student qualifies.
