Swimming is also calming and meditative, as the sound of your breathing and the water rushing by helps you focus inward and drown out all other distractions. Plus I love the feel of the water and the feeling of accomplishment that doing it every day gives me. I would utilize swimming in 1 of 2 ways.

I'm a beginner, but I already know the basics (I learned as a kid, decades ago, I swam from 3 to 12 years old). For example, if going every other day leads to only going one a week and then not at all, you should probably go every day and just have hard days and recovery "easy" days.
